Business Development Manager - Japan

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Development Manager to join our team in Japan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong relationships with partners, and driving the company's growth in the Japanese market. This role emphasizes business development activities over direct sales, focusing on long-term strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential business opportunities and market trends.

  • Analyze competitive landscape and develop strategies to differentiate our offerings.

  1. Strategic Partnerships:
  • Identify, negotiate, and establish strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, potential clients, and other relevant entities.

  • Maintain and nurture relationships with existing partners to ensure long-term collaboration.

  1. Business Strategy Development:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to achieve company growth objectives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align business development efforts with overall company goals.

  1. Opportunity Identification:
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services.

  • Develop proposals and presentations for new business opportunities.

  1. Project Management:
  • Lead and manage business development projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful implementation of business development initiatives.

  1. Networking and Representation:
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote our brand and identify new business opportunities.

  • Build a strong network within the industry to stay informed about market developments and opportunities.

  1. Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare regular reports on business development activities, progress, and outcomes.

  • Use data and insights to refine strategies and improve performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, strategy, or market expansion roles, preferably in the Japanese market.

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and business practices in Japan.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.

  • Fluent in Japanese (native or near-native proficiency) and English (business proficiency).

  • Proficiency in project management tools, CRM platforms, and data analysis software.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a specific industry relevant to the company's focus.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret market data.

  • Deep understanding of the Japanese economic, regulatory, and cultural environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
