J&J Family of Companies Machine Learning Engineer in Titusville, New Jersey

The Commercial Excellence Data Sciences and Data Engineering team within Janssen Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to explore, analyze data, and develop data sciences solutions to improve the lives of patients and drive impact for Janssen.

In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Janssen's commercial business objectives, developing, and deploying data engineering solutions. These solutions influence sales and marketing decisions at various levels of our organization, including but not limited to omnichannel digital transformation, sales, marketing, patient engagement, and payer insights focused data science initiatives.

The Machine Learning Engineer will collaborate with data stewards, data engineers, data scientists, advanced analytics teams to build data science solutions and deliver insights. The Machine Learning Engineer will also be responsible for understanding Janssen's existing data science, data engineering pipelines, and providing suggestions to optimize the architecture, providing recommendations on performance improvement. You will be part of a dynamic, accomplished Janssen unit that supports multiple therapeutic areas across sales and marketing functions.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Apply data modeling, data engineering and feature engineering principles to support data science requirements and supply raw, curated, and processed data for machine learning engineers and data scientists.

  • Lead the development and implementation of data engineering and feature engineering pipelines for predictive models.

  • Work in cross-functional agile teams to continuously experiment, iterate, and deliver business goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate with other data engineers, ML experts, and stakeholders from multiple therapeutic areas to take learnings and synergies as they arise.

  • Collaborate with advanced analytics, sales operations, data engineers, and data stewards on feature engineering, data sourcing and validation

  • Understand and improve business process by collaborating with multiple stakeholders across Brand Leads, Sales and Marketing and Advance Analytics teams.

  • Enhance existing data engineering pipelines based on changing market dynamics, inputs from our users, and key stakeholders (brand and sales teams)

  • Perform impact analysis of data events/changes on data science models and engage business process owners to align on the action plan

  • Contribute towards the end-to-end testing of our data sciences and engineering pipelines, ensuring best in class quality tested product deployment

    • Understand Janssen commercial business unit’s Omnichannel data and functional requirements to enable and support data engineering pipelines.
  • Understand existing data engineering pipelines and data science models related to Janssen’s Omnichannel brands, provide recommendations on performance improvement.

  • Collaborate with ML operations partners to leverage ML-DevOps capabilities to operationalize ML models.

  • Provide thought leadership by researching best practices, conducting experiments, and collaborating with industry leaders.

  • Work in cross-functional agile teams to implement POC, iterate, and deliver business goals and objectives.

  • Foster Innovation via improving ML Model performance, efficiency and infrastructure, experimentation and testing.

Qualifications

  • 2 + years of relted work experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, Statistics, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Computational Informatics, or a related discipline.

  • Strong understanding of designing and implementing data engineering solutions in the Cloud environment.

  • Familiarity in data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques in the Cloud environment.

  • Knowledge of AI algorithms, including machine learning techniques such as regression, decision trees, clustering and neural networks models.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills especially while dealing with diverse functional groups

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with large datasets and understanding of data analysis workflows.

  • Proficient with one or more programming language such as Python, Pyspark, and R.

  • Experience in Dataiku DSS (Data Science Studio) will be an additional benefit.

  • Understand the value of collaboration within teams, and build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.

  • 10% Domestic Travel

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Area of Study: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Information Systems

  • Industry Experience: Pharmaceutical/Medical Device or related Healthcare field

  • Business and data analysis skills with focus on pharmaceutical commercial operations will be highly beneficial.

  • Knowledge of Life Sciences Sales and Marketing data assets (e.g., Claims, Xponent, SPP) will be preferred.

  • Knowledge of patient level data analytics and patient engagement models.
