Synchrony VP & Marketing Leader, Mattress Firm in TIMONIUM, Maryland
This strategic and highly visible Mattress Firm Marketing Leader role requires a passionate, proven leader with demonstrated ability to drive growth and change via a focus on customers, process, and innovation. The role will lead marketing for the Mattress Firm credit portfolio, a nationwide retailer with 2,500+ retail outlets. The Mattress Firm partner is one of the top 5 partner programs in Home and Auto and in the top 15 in Synchrony. Key responsibilities are to develop and implement marketing strategies and tactics to achieve Synchrony KPIs and partner CTQs. This leader will work collaboratively and very closely with the Mattress Firm General Manager, the entire cross-functional dedicated team, and the Mattress Firm team, to drive new card accounts and incremental card usage. As portfolio Marketing Leader, this role with have responsibility for developing and leading a team of two.

Partner with the business and the Synchrony client team to lead, develop, implement, and monitor dynamic annual growth plans.
Lead and develop team of client marketing professionals.
Establish and develop key relationships at senior levels of partner organization.
Understand and incorporate the client's key business objectives, strategic vision, and marketing calendar into the planning process to achieve set objectives.
Optimize contractual marketing spend and pursue additional funds to meet growth goals.
Identify portfolio segments to target for partner and business gain; test and implement programs to grow these segments.
Manage all aspects of the value proposition, including tracking industry trends, as well as competitor's and customer experience metrics.
Ensure program profitability and growth through continued enhancements.
Drive program to effectively work in an omni-channel environment. Ensure digital assets are in place and optimized. Push for cutting edge thinking and agenda.
Monitor & manage performance of all key credit and marketing metrics vs. plan.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Bachelor's degree or, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma/GED and 15 years of marketing experience
A minimum of 10+ years of marketing experience in credit card or financial services to include (can be concurrent):
5 years of growth marketing leadership with partnership model, while leading consumer-facing programs and products, and with developing and delivering financial services products via digital channels
3 years of demonstrated successful people leadership experience within a client marketing team
Direct marketing experience with both acquisition and loyalty/lifecycle channels.
Promotional financing strategy and management experience
Ability to build business cases and balance metrics/creativity to influence GM and client C-Suite
Ability to travel as needed (15%)
Advanced degree (MS, MBA).
Client/ Account Management experience
Ability to work across the client organization and align resources and focus
Strong problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to evaluate situations using multiple sources of information.
Ability to manage and motivate marketing staff to attain high levels of performance
Ability to fully diagnose a market and identify innovative growth opportunities
Skilled at using data to drive business decisions; experience working with client data-share initiatives desirable
Ability to diagnose and stop work processes with low ROI as well as elevate high ROI initiatives
The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
