Eaton Corporation Manufacturing Engineer in Tijuana, Mexico

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.

What you’ll do:

Primary Function:

Responsible for designing, validating, and implementing manufacturing systems, including processes, documentation, PFMEA plans, and optimization throughout the product lifecycle. As an engineer, you seek and promote continuous improvement in manufacturing processes for both current and transferred businesses.

Essential Functions:

1 Supports the Production Area and contributes to achieving the High Five metrics of the focus factory.

2 Participates in Tier meetings related to the focus factory, safety assessments, and generates JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and MOC (Management of Changes).

3 Creates, designs, validates, and implements manufacturing systems (assembly lines), including documentation such as PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), WIs (Work Instructions), Control Plans, flow charts, and procedures. Establishes and implements process controls.

4 Participates in quality system improvements and implements changes accordingly.

5 Develops and implements tools based on new or revised requirements (standard tooling) and designs new fixtures for assembly (fixtures, stencils, wave pallets).

6 Establishes a preventive maintenance program for new assembly systems or stations.

7 Actively promotes and executes plant-level kaizen events to drive continuous improvement and enhance short-term and long-term organizational performance.

8 Establishes, monitors, and maintains a system of internal controls that safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity and propriety of financial transactions and activities, in compliance with corporate policy, including SOX.

9 Develops and implements product changes, such as MCOs (Manufacturing Change Orders) and deviations.

10 Seeks and promotes continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles and Industry 4.0 development, with an automotive mindset.

11 Uses daily production data (yields, throughput, etc.) to develop and execute corrective action plans aimed at driving continuous improvement.

12 Manages routing in the ERP system (SAP), leads and participates in VSM (Value Stream Mapping) and Kaizen events, and implements standard work to improve line efficiency while seeking and promoting Cost Out Projects

Qualifications:

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics or Mechanics (or similar).

  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing and equipment areas and/or similar position.

  • 1-3 years of experience on building electronic products (SMT, assembly, wave solder, mechanical assembly, coating, magnetics and wire assembly, spot welding, encapsulated, packing and labeling, etc.)

  • 2 years of experience solving QA issues, implementing process controls and process improvements.

  • Strong knowledge of J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC- WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711/21 soldering requirements,basic knowledge of TS16949 standard.

  • Highly skilled in Minitab, SolidWorks, Project, AutoCAD, ViewMate, and MFG Pro Management (preferred). Strong knowledge of the processes involved in manufacturing electronic products, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
