Actalent Transmission Line Engineer in Tigard, Oregon

Job Title: Transmission Line EngineerJob Description

One of the largest and top performing construction & engineering organizations is hiring a Transmission Line Engineer to perform a range of duties on a 5-year power delivery project for a large electric services company. This role will support a long-term multi-year program with a major utility provider in the NW Territory. The organization is the Owner engineering firm tasked with managing the PMO operations of a wildfire mitigation program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a collaborative team to understand client needs, prepare deliverables, and provide project updates.

  • Establish design criteria based on industry, company, and/or client standards.

  • Oversee the creation of computer models of overhead electric transmission lines and structures in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER.

  • Oversee the assembly of drawings, specifications, and design criteria for the procurement of tubular steel structures, lattice towers, and transmission line hardware.

  • Review vendor-supplied calculations and drawings for compliance.

  • Oversee the development of comprehensive construction packages for internal construction crews and client contractors, including plan & profiles, staking sheets, stringing tables, bill of materials, structure details, phasing drawings, foundation drawings, and installation specifications.

  • Provide design oversight and quality reviews for complex drawing packages ensuring client and code requirements are met for the project.

  • Drive a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Present to management, analyze PLS-CADD reports, formulate design aids, and draft reports using Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Yammer).

  • Communicate resource needs and ensure project schedules and budgets are maintained.

  • Visit construction sites, meet in client offices, and travel out of town to tour supplier facilities as required by projects and assignments.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience with leading projects relating to transmission lines between 69kV and 345kV for the power utility industry.

  • Direct experience and proficient use of PLS-CADD and other PLS software packages preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree required in civil or structural engineering preferred or other related degree.

  • PE License strongly preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole; PLS TOWER experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of geotechnical recommendation application for foundation design preferred.

  • Project management experience leading transmission projects through scope, schedule, and budget, ideally with 1 year of PM experience.

  • Prior experience either working with a PM responding to RFPs and bid proposals desired.

  • Ability to network within the industry and desire to help grow business through relationships with utility clients.

Work Environment

Brand new large office with large windows, electric powered stand-up desks, and a 45+ person capacity cafeteria. Collaborative environment with other departments also included in the office. This is a 100% in-office role with flexibility around needs to work from home. The office features a casual environment and supports a strong diversity culture. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00

  • 401k 100% up to 6%.- 52 pay periods per year (every week)- PTO rolls over to next year. Employees can roll over up to 40 hours to the following year.- Flexible with schedule accommodations DOE and need to be approved by regional manager.
