JOB DESCRIPTION
Machinists at National Machinery will manufacture various parts and components for all facets of the business. Machinists will work individually as well as a in a group to accomplish both individual, department, and company goals.
- Machine parts to specifications following instructions, drawings, blueprints, and specifications using boring mills or similar CNC equipment.
- Download, edit, run, create and save new programs on various machine controls to meet engineering drawing dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
- Work closely with Programmers, Manufacturing and Design Engineers to ensure a high-quality output with adherence to all safety standards.
- Adhere to routing operation instructions to machine features to desired results, also must have the ability to evaluate sample parts, drawings, and engineering information to determine sequences of operations to machine products that may require specific feature rework or install.
- Manually setup and machine parts to specifications using custom and standard fixturing with tools like tombstones, vises and modular fixturing.
- Operate and maintain large CNC Mills, Horizontal Boring Mills or Double Gantry Vertical Mills to produce precision parts efficiently and effectively.
- Working with large components and fixturing, use of rigging practices, large cranes and heavy equipment to properly set up and achieve requirements of machined components and/or assemblies.
- Measure and examine completed parts for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, use of precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, depth micrometers and other measurement tools.
- Work in a team environment to achieve the best results and share best practices and information throughout the department and organization.
- Work independently and make decisions while using creative problem solving and decision skills.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Good understanding of CNC machining practices in low carbon, alloy, tool steels and other materials
Highly proficient in tooling selection for milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, and boring operations including calculating for speeds, feeds, D.O.C. to achieve the desired tolerance and finish.
Must be able to interpret and be proficient in both Metric and Inch, required for tooling, measurement, program editing and part requirements.
Ability to precisely measure and examine completed parts for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, depth micrometers and other measurement tools.
Able to meet an elevated level of efficient operation utilizing technical expertise including attention to detail, interpreting written and oral instructions, drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
Associate's degree or certification with concentration in machine trades or equivalent experience.
