Senior Application Engineer I

Summary

Forge Nano Inc. is a fast-growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano-scale coatings across a wide range of markets. Forge Nano is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join our Commercial Projects Team.

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for commercializing Forge Nano's Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) prototype systems and processes. A thorough understanding of ALD chemistry, vacuum deposition equipment, and product lifecycle management (PLM) are critical for this role.

The Senior Applications Engineer is the leading technologist that will drive design criteria and basis for Forge Nano's ALD equipment. Knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies and experience working with a multi-disciplinary team are essential to the success of this role.

Skills and Responsibilities

The Senior Application Engineer may be responsible for tasks and skills such as (non-exhaustive):

Developing Process Flow Diagrams for new conceptual systems and client proposals Generating Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams to facilitate detailed design work Reviewing 3D Designs for operational readiness, safety, and useability Balancing and Heat and Material Feeds for scale-up and initial design proposals Detailing requirement sets for equipment and reactor specifications Participating in PHA, HAZOP, and/or Operability Studies Developing Control Loop and Safety Loop Requirements Calculating relief scenarios, piping hydraulics, and other process scenarios Detailing specification of instrumentation, valving, and other critical process components Maturing first-generation systems into commercially viable manufacturing equipment Documenting technical sales and marketing materials for distribution to Forge Nano's Sales Team

Required Experience and Qualifications

MS and/or BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering from an ABET accredited University. +3 years of work experience with fluidized bed reactors, powder treatment systems, or other vacuum deposition systems. Experience working with an Original Equipment Manufacturer preferably with vacuum systems or a similar process industry. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) Working knowledge of PM tools such as Jira (Atlassian), Wrike, or MS Project Comfortable working with multiple projects and teams Excellent communication and collaborative skills

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

Master's Degree in chemical or Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited University +8 years of work experience with fluidized bed reactors, powder treatment systems, or other vacuum deposition systems. Experience with revision control tools such as PDM and/or PLM software Experience with layout drawings, schematics, and other engineering specification documents Experience with powder equipment and powder substrate handling

Work Environment

Work will predominately be in an office or work-from-home environment. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, and in the plant, a hard hat. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required. Up to 15% travel to client locations may be required.
