Boyd Corporation TIG Welder - 3rd shift-Full Time* in Thermal - Niagara, New York

SUMMARY

Aavid Niagara, a Thermal Division of Boyd Corporation, located in Niagara Falls, NY has full time openings for TIG Welders. We manufacture high quality heat exchanges, liquid cold plates and high heat transfer fins along with Aavid’s wide portfolio of thermal management solutions. We serve major customers in the aerospace, defense, alternative energy, marine and industrial markets. Job consists of various types of weld preparation, setting-up and operating manual welder to tungsten inert gas (TIG) weld components according to specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set-up and operate manual welder to TIG weld components according to specifications (aluminum, stainless steel, cast, and cupronickel)

  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or job orders to determine product specifications

  • Accurately and efficiently complete prototype work based upon blueprints and/or job orders

  • Set-up fixtures and welding

  • Using micrometers and calipers, measure work pieces to ensure comply with blueprints and/or job orders

  • Manipulate work pieces to fit required measurements and inspect and record quality requirements of finished work pieces

  • Adhere to all safety rules. Must wear required safety PPE and use all safety devices/tools to ensure safe operation of welding processes

  • Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times

  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Aavid Niagara, LLC policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or technical school diploma

  • Two years related experience and/or training required. Five years related experience and/or training preferred

  • Must successfully pass company weld test

  • Set-up and operate welding machine

  • Skilled accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools

  • Ability to read and work to set tolerances and work from blueprints

  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and/or correspondence

  • Basic mathematical skills required to set-up and operate welding process

  • Required work authorization: United States
