Mechanical Engineer- Thermal

Aavid Thermal Division of Boyd Corp, is looking for a creative Mechanical Product Design Engineer for Thermal to join the Design Center team in downtown San Jose. Aavid Design has expanded on its thermal design foundation and offers full service product design and prototyping services.

We are looking for a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to design our customer’s products as part of our product design consulting team. We service many industries and we are currently looking for engineers with diverse backgrounds to design electromechanical products such as wearable and handheld electronics.

Aavid’s San Jose Design Center is in the heart of the Downtown area in walking distance from many public transportation options and amenities. We are in the transit and technology hub or Silicon Valley.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as a key member of the global Aavid Design team by being a key contributor on cross functional global teams of industrial designers, thermal designers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel.

  • Develop next generation products and leading technologies through creative design.

  • Provide mechanical design, engineering, research, documentation, testing, and prototype support.

  • Analyze and resolve project issues utilizing sound engineering practices and methodologies.

  • Engage with clients, factories, and vendors relating to design projects.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a “can do” attitude and be a team player.

  • Must be able to embrace change, be entrepreneurial and self-confident, take charge when necessary and willing to take appropriate risks.

  • Minimum 4 year engineering degree, MS or PHD in Mechanical Engineering a plus with fluid dynamics and heat transfer.

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in product development utilizing a variety of materials and manufacturing processes

  • Must be proficient in SolidWorks. 3D geometry, grid generation and CFD simulations a plus.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical design skills of electromechanical products including consumer electronics and medical devices, or other devices with highly integrated electronics.
