Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston is looking to expand our current team with a Senior Compensation Analyst who will support management and senior leadership positions throughout the University and our clinical areas. This employee provides advanced-level content expertise in developing, implementing, communicating, and administering University compensation programs and policies in order to recruit, develop, and retain a high-caliber workforce. This employee consults with, provides guidance, and maintains strong relationships with business partners to achieve positive and effective outcomes supporting university and departmental business objectives. Your focus will be on administering award and bonus programs, completing market reviews, merit administration, and looking at equity throughout the system. You must have at least four years of applicable experience with compensation, and an executive compensation, clinical, or higher education background is preferred. This senior-level analyst will need to move quickly, have superior customer service skills, and effectively handle communicating with institutional, educational, and clinical leadership.

This is a Full-time role that is classified as salaried and exempt. Currently, this role is completely remote within the Greater Houston area, but there will be times when you will need to come into the office in the Texas Medical Center to attend meetings or assist in person on projects. You will be eligible for all UTHealth Houston benefits, including healthcare coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas.

Employees must either live or plan to relocate to the State of Texas. You will be required to come into our Texas Medical Center office on occasion located in Houston (at least once a quarter). Most of the time, though, work will be performed remotely in your home office.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and administering compensation programs that support the practice plan and the institution's strategic goals.

  2. Responsible for job analysis, job evaluation, and maintenance of university job descriptions and classification structure.

  3. Researches market data to analyze the competitiveness of compensation practices and makes recommendations to management.

  4. Monitors and audits pay practices to ensure compliance with the University policies and guidelines.

  5. Responsible for the development of pay programs, including salary structure changes, merit programs, incentive programs, and other special pay programs.

  6. Participates in the development and implementation of salary administration policies and guidelines.

  7. Prepares reports and performs extensive analysis of compensation data.

  8. Presents findings and recommendations for action to University Leadership.

  9. Prepares and delivers communications to the organization to keep them informed and aware of compensation programs.

  10. Respond to ad hoc requests concerning Federal and State laws and regulations, UTHealth policies and practices, standard business practices, and local and national trends.

  11. Researches, analyzes, and understands various federal and state regulations to ensure compliance with compensation programs and policies.

  12. Functions as a departmental and organizational technical expert in the area of compensation, interpreting information, and providing professional advice and counseling.

  13. Provides compensation services in support of clinical transitions and acquisitions.

  14. May participate in salary surveys.

  15. May serve as a lead to other compensation staff members.

  16. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills. Must have excellent MS Office skills, especially advanced-level Excel and Access skills.

Preferred: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or working toward CCP designation.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related field or experience in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience:

At least Four (4) years of compensation experience, preferably in healthcare.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
