Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston is looking for an Epic Analyst to work with the LUMENS module, which addresses endoscopies and supports gastroenterology practices. You will be responsible for the ongoing design, build, testing, validation, and support of any Lumens modules used across the healthcare system, mainly with our surgical centers. This analyst works with operational stakeholders and IT technical staff to troubleshoot Epic system issues and problems, capture requirements for new initiatives, and aid in the planning and executing of project plans. Works with end users to help communicate improvements needed for business processes and contribute directly to the success of the UTHealth mission from a technological, clinical, administrative, and financial perspective.

For this role, certification or accreditation in the LUMENS module is preferred. Still, we are willing to consider an analyst currently working and certified with Epic RADIANT (radiology) and/or Epic CUPID and sponsor the certification or accreditation for LUMENS. If you are not certified in Lumens, we will give you three months to undergo the requisite training from Epic.

This role is fully remote, but we strongly prefer candidates who live in the State of Texas.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Maintains expertise and seeks additional knowledge in supporting and optimizing Lumens Epic module and how it integrates with other applications in a surgical setting.

  2. Works cohesively with stakeholders to provide system support, including analysis, build, and testing of requested changes and analysis of new functionality of applications.

  3. Reviews, builds, tests, and implements new functionality via System Upgrades and Special Updates.

  4. Works and manages multiple tasks independently.

  5. Demonstrates timely, effective, and efficient troubleshooting of software and workflow issues and defines mitigation plans for resolution with minimal guidance.

  6. Develop and document internal procedures to use with Epic applications.

  7. Meets build deadlines as communicated by the Application Director.

  8. Develop and maintain system documentation to enable ongoing support and maintenance of the Epic system.

  9. Assists the Application Director in developing build timelines and project plans as communicated by leadership.

  10. Performs unit testing of application configurations and builds in appropriate non-production environments to identify defects and create resolution plans accordingly.

  11. Participates in creating relevant and meaningful test scripts for application, integrated, and end-user acceptance testing.

  12. Performs testing in a structured manner, follows any defined test scripts, and documents results.

  13. Performs unit testing of application configurations and builds in appropriate non-production environments to identify issues and potential solutions.

  14. Follows established guidelines for system change control.

  15. Creates and maintains documentation for change management, including cost estimation, project documentation, communication, and training plans.

  16. Collaborates across teams to ensure process design, interface development, testing, and end-user training are performed to quality standards.

  17. Independently performs basic project management activities to develop and implement system changes and small to medium projects.

  18. Develops applications-specific reports; provides technical specifications and assistance to report developers as needed.

  19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• Superior oral and written communication skills, including specific skills of presentation and effective communication of complex subjects to non-technical groups.

• Superior customer relation skills, including leading and participating in group sessions and reaching consensus.

• Familiarity with project lifecycle and project management methodologies for software management.

• Ability to plan and manage projects of various sizes, their tasks, dependencies, team members, other resources, and timelines.

• The analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems or design relative systems and programs that cross department/divisional lines.

MUST BE ALREADY CERTIFIED IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING EPIC MODULES - Lumens, Cupid, or Radiant.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or a related discipline; equivalent years of related experience in health care or information technology will be considered in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience:

Four (4) years of experience in a healthcare-related field is required. One (1) year of experience supporting one or more Epic modules is preferred. Large-scale healthcare systems planning and implementation experience on application software products is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
