Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION GOAL: The Supervisor oversees the care of adult and geriatric patients.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: E1. Responsible for direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients on the Dialysis Unit. E2. Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for the Dialysis Unit and managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment. E3. Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care. Ensures QA audits are completed and results are placed in the log book. E4. Manages assigned personnel, including scheduling and payroll edits. E5. Communicates with Nurse Director and House Supervisor regarding patient care, staff conflicts and unusual occurrences. E6. Ensures supplies and equipment are available for use. Ensures that supplies are stocked on a regular basis. E7. Coordinates patient/staff schedule along with nephrologists and in consideration of staffing needs at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center. E8. Monitors productivity and manages shared employee hours E9. Ensures efficient, quality care of patients requiring dialysis. Completes Patient Activity Report daily. E10. Assures daily charges are entered on Meditech and verifies charges on Meditech ancillary charge report against daily dialysis log book. E11. Assumes responsibility for on-call duty as scheduled, with response time not greater than one hour. E12. Models behaviors consistent with positive customer service. E13. Adheres to and complies with HCA Code of Conduct as part of Ethics and Compliance program. Attends annual training sessions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: At least one year experience required as a Staff RN in a dialysis setting.

Education:

  1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.

Special Qualifications:

  1. Current Texas licensure with Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners

  2. American Red Cross or American Heart Association (BLS OR BCLS, and ALS OR ACLS) Course Completion and Certification.

  3. ACLS required within 6 months of hire.

4.Current CPR certification

  1. Certified Dialysis Nurse Preferred

  2. Prefer 5 years of clinical dialysis experience.
