State of Massachusetts Psychologist IV in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) at Tewksbury Hospital is seeking an experienced and licensed Psychologist to provide highly skilled psychological treatment, assessment, and direct clinical services for an adult inpatient population. The Psychologist will serve as the unit-based professional on an interdisciplinary treatment team, as well as a consulting psychologist across all five (5) inpatient psychiatric units to provide individualized psychotherapy and assessment to adult psychiatric inpatients ages 19 . The selected candidate provides clinical supervision, consultation, and education for psychology trainees at all levels of training including full-time pre-doctoral interns and graduate level practicum students. Please note: 40 hours per week, full time Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Days off: Saturday/Sunday /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ * Provides direct clinical service to persons served as the Psychology representative on unit treatment teams; coordinates with multi-disciplinary teams. * Conducts psychological assessments and DMH-specific risk assessments, as indicated. * Supervises and evaluates psychology trainees in their clinical work, including individual and group therapy and psychological assessment. * Conducts training programs for staff, students, lay public and professionals. * Participates in interviewing, screening, and hiring of psychologists and other clinical professional and clinical direct-care staff. * Participates in staff, workgroups and other hospital-wide committees or meetings. * Serves as coordinator of the group therapy program on his/her assigned treatment unit. * Provides individual and group therapy. * Organizes and supervises clinical programs and treatment for adult patients age 19 . * Provides consultation, supervision, coordination, and liaises with external services such as agencies and practitioners. * Prepares or maintains clinical, programmatic, and administrative reports and records. * Provides behavioral management interventions, training, and supervision to the staff to implement treatment interventions for adult patients age 19 . * Participates in multidisciplinary team plans for evaluation, treatment, and discharge for patients. /_Requirements:_/ * Knowledge of principles and practice of clinical/rehabilitation psychology, forensic psychological assessment, treatment interventions and planning, and psychological therapy techniques used in clinical practice for adult patient’s age 19 . * Ability to provide trauma-informed care to a diverse population with sensitivity to issues of culture and psychosocial context. * Talent for supervising, planning, and coordinating activities in the role of a professional psychologist with the ability to maintain good working relationships with staff, patients, and outside agencies. * Familiarity with research methods and techniques in psychology. * Understanding of fundamental types of psychological difficulties and mental disorders. * Ability to integrate and interpret results of psychological tests and make appropriate recommendations. /_Preferred Qualifications:_/ * Record of experience and expertise in inpatient care of adult patients with serious mental illness. * Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team and with other clinicians. * Ability to recognize medical conditions and refer for appropriate care. * Thoroughness, independence, and excellent written and oral communication skills. * Competence in maintaining accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information; resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner. * Skilled in establishing rapport and deal tactfully with persons from varied ethnic cultural, economic backgrounds, and/or under physical, emotional stress, or in stressful settings. * Ability to establish relationships with individuals, families, providers, physicians, and staff members. * Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency /_About Tewksbury Hospital:_/ Tewksbury Hospital operates a 370-bed facility and a campus of over 700 acres of land. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have a Doctorate in Psychology from school accredited by the American Psychological Association. Applicants must also have at least three years of years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a Licensed Psychologist in the application of psychological principles and techniques in a recognized agency providing psychological services or treatment, of which (B) at least one year must have included supervision over Post-doctoral Psychologists-in-training and/or Psychological Assistants. Special Requirements: Current and valid registration as a Psychologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology. Based on assignment, must meet the eligibility requirements for Designated Forensic Psychologist in 104 CMR 33.04(3)(b). Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
