Kelly Services Controls Engineer in Tewksbury, Massachusetts
CONTROLS ENGINEER - TEWKSBURY MA
Our client, a world leading provider of cutting-edge water and wastewater treatment solutions, is currently hiring a Controls Engineer. This position is a Contract to Hire (Full Benefits while in Contract period).
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Live culture exemplifying growth-enabling behaviors by configuring solutions in support of larger projects.
Create and test machine-specific control programs with the aid of standard modules PLC, HMI, SCADA, process technology, etc., for all test stands.
Customize and test custom software solutions using test controls before implementation in existing test stands.
Create software design documents SDS, flowchart, PLC program, ladder logic, SCR, etc.
Evaluate alternative solutions for obsolete control components, defined in collaboration with the test stand owners.
Work with test stand owners to make necessary changes to equipment for improvements, system upgrades, preventative maintenance procedures and testing requirement changes.
Contribute to cross-functional project teams supporting activities related to controls issues including, programming PLCs, Human Machine Interface HMI and other control components.
Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing test stand automation, controls and safety issues.
Conduct verification tests to confirm test stand performance and adherence to control design specifications.
Solve quality problems associated with process control systems and develops software to diagnose quality problems.
Support the implementation of standards and specifications as it is related to test stand controls systems.
Maintain a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor s degree in Electrical, or Computer Engineering or similar field of study.
2 to 5 years of work experience in a related field.
PLC programming experience, knowledge of ladder logic, knowledge of how sensors work/communicate to PLC (needs someone who knows how sensors communicate).
Knowledge of how to troubleshoot a sensor (Analog vs Digital, Scaling, knowing common signal types and communication protocols like modbus /cambus, etc..)
Ability to execute tasks autonomously.
Ability to understand concepts in execution and strong organization skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope.
Ability to interpret and implement specifications Effective communication skills.
