Job Summary and Qualifications

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services. In collaboration with the RN and other members of the care team, the LPN provides individualized, comprehensive care consistent with the scope and standards of the specialty.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provide direct, evidence-based care to patients as directed by the physician or RN.

  • Assist with procedures, monitoring, or other functions as directed.

  • Perform lab and procedural tests within the LPN scope of practice, after demonstrating competency.

  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.

  • Serve as a resource to department staff, students and volunteers to help deliver quality patient care.

  • Assumes duties of medication nurse capably and with full knowledge of actions and untoward effects of medication being dispensed.

  • Performs treatment prescribed by physician and/or delegated by registered nurse.

  • Assists in patient education, rehabilitation and maintenance of health

  • Assists patients with all activities of daily living including but not limited to the bathing, positioning, range of motion, eliminating and ambulation.

  • Floats to other units as assigned

  • Functions as preceptor for new employees and students

  • Performs efficiently and maintains ongoing training with Meditech/Healthstream/E-Resources page.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required

  • Indiana Licensed Practical Nurse license or active Compact State LPN license required

  • Graduate of an Accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing or Vocational Nursing School

  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic nursing skills, including phlebotomy and Acute Care LPN experience preferred
