Bedford Public Schools Paraprofessional in Temperance, Michigan

Building Principal or designee.

*JOB GOAL: *

To successfully assist the certified instructor(s) in the educational process.

*TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: *

Position is in the Bedford Paraprofessional Association. 

*GENERAL CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: *

  • Assist the students with the instructional activities as planned by the teacher.  This may include individual, small or large group reinforcement activities, remedial activities or general instructional support.
  • Perform all reasonable tasks that may include classroom record keeping, organizing of materials, and preparing instructional materials.
  • Demonstrate the academic skills necessary to convey instructional materials, ideas, and concepts.
  • Demonstrate a flexibility to move from one (1) task to another.
  • Demonstrate a level of personal organization necessary to meet timelines, develop schedules, and manage time available to maximize the instructional efforts.
  • Exhibit a high level of communication (students, parents, and staff).
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and use of group management skills that will provide for a safe and orderly learning/classroom environment.
  • Exhibit an initiative and willingness to become familiar with and/or learn about new technologies.
  • Effectively utilize computer technology for instructional support of identified "at risk" students in assigned grade(s).
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the classroom and the students at all times.
  • Attend required District in-services or workshops as requested.
  • Maintain communication (written and verbal) with assigned instructor and building principal.
  • Establish a positive rapport with the child, parents, and staff.
  • Provide in-classroom instructional support for those students identified as "at risk" students in assigned grade(s).
  • Meet all instructional aide deadlines and be punctual.
  • Refer all contacts from parents in regard to classroom activities to the teacher or principal.
  • Successfully perform appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job

EVALUATION:

  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel and the collective bargaining agreement as applicable.
