Jacobs Structural Engineering Intern (ELE) - Summer 2025 in Tempe, Arizona

At Jacobs, we’re not just building structures, we’re helping our clients innovate and grow by designing, engineering, and executing the construction of their state-of-the-art facilities that are changing our world. Join our team in Tempe/Chandler, AZ as a Structural Engineering Intern and get excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. 

You’ll have the chance to work on projects including the design of new structures as well as existing structural upgrades. Throughout your internship you will be mentored and guided by Professional Engineers and technical experts. You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills as you work closely with Project Managers, Professional Engineers, and Designers across different disciplines. As part of this team, you will perform increasingly complex calculations and analysis as the structural design is developed, and learn to work with our Designers to get the structural requirements communicated on paper and in the model. In this role, you will be working to develop a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Structural Engineering, gaining experience in multiple subject areas, and learning how Structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines.

  • Currently enrolled in a degree seeking progam for engineering, with a clear interest in Structural Engineering

  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work on-site in Chandler, AZ

Ideally, you will have

  • Seeking MS degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering

  • Previous relevant internship experience in Structural Engineering, preferably with experience analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.

  • Experience with STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam

  • Familiarity with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC
