The Enterprise Business Architect (EBA) plays a critical role on the extended IT Leadership team by aligning strategy, roadmaps, and initiatives across and between the application portfolios. Their primary focus is to take an end-to-end view of the processes and technology needed to deliver business capabilities and identify improvement opportunities using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and industry standard techniques. In partnership with the business, the EBA owns the decision for end-to-end process design and makes recommendations on application strategies with the objective of simplifying and standardizing both processes and systems.
This position can be located in Rosemont, IL or Tempe, AZ
In order to create an end-to-end view of process and technology:
Develop deep process and application knowledge across the Corporate Systems portfolio, including application interdependency
Collaborate with Corporate Systems Enterprise Business Architect to ensure an integrated business process view of the enterprise systems
Ensure process and application documentation is in place, identify gaps, and develop plans to remediate
Create documentation to clearly illustrate end-to-end process maps and system integrations
Define the set of strategic, core and support processes (i.e. business capabilities) that transcend functional and organizational boundaries
Develop and maintain overall business capability maps informed by business strategy, operational goals, and critical business challenges and opportunities
In order to partner with the business and make recommendations:
Analyze current state using documentation, process artifacts, performance metrics and “go see” engagements
Take an active role in enterprise portfolio investment decisions by assessing and rationalizing proposed enterprise capabilities
Work with the business to identify large-scale enablement and recommend transformation with clear future state documentation, focusing on operating efficiency or to improve overall customer / user satisfaction
Participate in the evaluation of solution options and develops recommendations based on business requirements and objectives
Support project teams to ensure cross project trade-offs are understood and appropriate decisions are made
Develop a business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations
Supports the Business Relationship Managers in their partnership with the business leaders to discuss future capabilities and business strategies
Provide oversight to IT execution teams to ensure alignment to roadmap and achievement of objectives
In order to leverage a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and industry standard techniques:
Lead and mentor other cross functional team members in the development of business architect and analyst deliverables, understanding industry best practices / standards
Collaborate with the Corporate Systems Enterprise Business Architect to create people and process enterprise standards for business architecture approach and methodology and deploy across the entire Commercial Systems portfolio
Support IT execution teams in project delivery by ensuring deliverables (e.g. process documentation, business process mapping, etc.) meet standards
Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree required. M.S./MBA preferred.
Minimum of 10 years' experience, with at least 5 years working directly with and presenting to senior business leaders (CxO and VP level)
Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
Demonstrated ability to generate a broad, enterprise-wide view of the business
An appreciation for strategy, processes, and governance and the ability to oversee execution against these frameworks
The ability to work with ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability
Strong team leadership skills, including driving change and consensus through influence
The ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies
The ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions
The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques to represent information, simplify complexity, and resolve conflicting data
Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and visualization) to all levels of the organization around a broad set of topics (e.g. business needs, IT strategy, business processes and workflow automation, etc.)
Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities
