Amazon Electrical Safety Program Manager, AWS Electrical Safety Program in Tempe, Arizona

Description

The AWS Electrical Safety Program seeks to bring on an Electrical Safety Training and Qualification Program Owner with expertise in electrical system design, operation, inspection, servicing and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a solid knowledge foundation in data center operations and electrical safe work practices and a proven track record of designing, managing & improving electrical safety and/or training and competency programs & policies. They must also be proficient in creating roadmaps for the standardization and implementation of large-scale projects. They will have a history of leading change across diverse teams and entire regions. The candidate must have the ability to perform in-depth analysis of trends in electrical incident reports & internal/external audit findings related to electrical & related risks and apply those findings to target continuous training improvements.

The AWS Electrical Safety Program seeks to help ensure AWS operational excellence via the development, integration and management of strategic electrical safety and compliance programs including global policies and standards; electrical design for safety; quality installation; electrical maintenance; in-process hazard identification and analysis; audits, inspection and investigations; training, competency, qualification and authorization. The AWS Electrical Safety Team supports strategies throughout the Data Center Community and provides electrical safety subject matter expertise services to all business units within AWS.

Key job responsibilities

• Maintain an up to date understanding of electrical safety regulatory requirements and industry best practices and be able to build training compliance programs around these requirements.

• Develop and improve programs and policies for electrical systems and electrical work practices including audits of existing programs in compliance with local codes and global standards .

• Partner with legal and other key stakeholders in changes to the electrical training programs.

• Support operations, construction, and other relevant departments with worker training and qualification development and implementation.

• Audit electrical system maintenance practices regionally to identify deviations and corrective actions.

• Monitor trends in electrical incident reports, and drive continuous improvements.

• Provide support to global electrical safety program as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working in data center or other critical environment space with understanding of critical infrastructure and minimum redundancy principles.

  • Experience interpreting health and safety regulation, code and industry standards for the development and implementation of safety and compliance policies/standards.

  • Subject matter expertise in LV/MV/HV system and equipment design and design for safety variations including switchgear, panelboards, breakers, UPS systems, transformers, generators and control circuity.

  • Expertise in electrical safe work practices, electrical hazard analysis, risk assessment and electric shock and arc flash hazard reduction methods.

  • Experience managing training, and qualification programs including tracking and analysis of human error and critical failure data and its application towards continuous training improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading the development and implementation of a data center electrical safety training and qualification program including qualification and assessment of Competent, Qualified and/or Authorized Persons.

  • Experience conducting or participating in electrical regulatory audits, inspections and/or investigations.

  • Technical degree, licensing, or civilian/military certification/qualification. (For Example: Electrical Engineering Degree; Master Electrician, Senior Reactor Operator or Stationary Engineer licensing, Engineering Watch Officer or Watch Supervisor or equivalent military qualifications.)
