Belt Polisher -- Sets up and operates conventional and special purpose machines to finish metallic parts to a high polish. Read blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, to determine dimensions and tolerances required for the optimum sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Belt Polishers will measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on polishing machines. Sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed and depth and angle of cut. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments. Sets up and operates machine. Will interact with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.
