Fairleigh Dickinson University Adjunct Faculty for Animation and/or Games--Spring 2025 in Teaneck, New Jersey

Job Summary:

The School of the Arts at Fairleigh Dickinson University is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach courses in animation and/or game design.

Courses are held in person on our Florham campus, conveniently located just a one-hour train ride from Penn Station, New York. Classes will begin in January 2025 and meet once a week. We strive to accommodate professionals’ schedules and are open to consolidating teaching days for those interested in teaching multiple courses on the same day, making it easier for working professionals to integrate teaching into their schedules.

As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for creating and delivering course materials that engage students through practical demonstrations in software and digital environments. You will also need to be present for all scheduled classes, hold office hours (in person or via Zoom), and provide timely feedback and grading on student projects.

Required Qualifications:

The School of the Arts at Fairleigh Dickinson University is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach courses in animation and/or game design. As part of a program ranked among the top 25 animation programs in the nation, we are looking for candidates in New York and New Jersey with a master’s or bachelor’s degree accompanied by relevant teaching or industry experience in animation, game design, or closely related fields. While university-level teaching experience is preferred, we welcome individuals with significant professional expertise who are passionate about educating the next generation of animators and game designers.

We are seeking candidates who are proficient in industry-standard 2D animation software such as Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe Animate, as well as 3D animation tools like Blender, Maya, ZBrush, and 3DS Max. Experience in game design, including the use of game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, would also be valuable but not required.
