Job Description

As an Account Representative, you will play a crucial role in managing and nurturing relationships with a diverse portfolio of small and mid-sized accounts. You will be responsible for driving retention, ensuring customer satisfaction, and identifying opportunities for growth within your assigned book of business. The ideal candidate will leverage strong sales skills for negotiating price increases, contract renewals, service changes, and other sales-related activities. This position reports to the Account Representative Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of up to 1,000 small and mid-sized accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for all account-related inquiries, while proactively identifying opportunities for upselling additional services or recommending tailored solutions to meet evolving customer needs and enhance overall account performance.

  • Employ strong sales skills to negotiate price increases, contract renewals, service enhancements, and other sales-related activities to drive revenue growth and maximize profitability, leveraging market insights and customer relationships.

  • Utilize effective sales techniques to overcome objections and address customer concerns, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention while maximizing sales opportunities and profitability.

  • Foster strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, and effectively communicate our value proposition to drive customer engagement and loyalty.

  • Collaborate with internal departments, including operations and customer service, to ensure seamless service delivery and resolve customer issues in a timely manner.

  • Identify opportunities for account expansion and growth by upselling additional services or recommending tailored solutions to meet evolving customer needs.

  • Monitor account performance metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Utilize CRM software and other sales tools to maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities, and account updates, ensuring data integrity and providing visibility into sales performance and opportunities for growth.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments, sharing insights and best practices with customers as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience and skills will also be considered.

  • Proven experience in account management, customer service, or sales roles, preferably in the waste management or environmental services industry.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with customers of varying backgrounds and industries.

  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successful price negotiations, contract renewals, and upselling opportunities.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service and support.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) for managing account information and communication.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate across departments.

  • Understanding of waste management regulations, industry standards, and best practices is a plus.
