Uses hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand soldering, or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products. Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits. Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts prior to assembly using straighthedges, combinations squares, calipers, and rulers. Examines work pieces and defects, and measures work pieces with straighthedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
