Verdantas Staff Ecologist III in Tampa, Florida

They conduct various types of ecological monitoring, permitting, and mitigation.

We are seeking a talented Ecologist to join our team in our Tampa, FL office.
Responsibilities:
Gopher tortoise and other listed species surveys, permitting and relocations
Conducting jurisdictional wetland determinations
Preparing and defending jurisdictional determination forms
Preparing Water Management District (WMD), FDEP, and USACE permit applications
Developing and/or maintaining a client base
Managing projects that may include research, field data collection efforts, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) coordination and technical report preparation
Participating in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies
Occasional overnight and/or weekend travel to remote field sites and operating field vehicles and equipment
Assisting in the development of project scopes and budgets
Preparing and defending Uniform Mitigation Assessment Method (UMAM) analyses
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or similar
Master's degree is a plus
5-10 years of relevant professional experience
Proficient in Microsoft computer applications
Experience as a consultant, regulator, or industry representative for mining and/or public utilities is desirable
