In this vital role you will report to the Director Global Cloud Security leader in our Cybersecurity and Digital Trust (CDT) organization and will be based in Tampa, FL, at Amgen’s Capability Center. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. Our new Tampa Capability Center provides essential services that enable us to better pursue this mission. This state-of-the art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies.

This position will be responsible for shaping compliance and security of Amgen's modern business workloads in the cloud globally. The principal architect will play the lead role in designing, deploying and maintaining security solutions, automation, audits, policy and standard enforcements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable as the Cloud Security Domain architect to establish domain reference architecture mapping security capabilities, process and technology

  • Continuously assesses cloud security risk and threat landscape, identifies security control gaps and develops business technology strategies that materially addresses risk and reinforce departmental investments

  • Manages and maintains current architectural plans, engineering blueprints and CDT reference architecture in system of record

  • Directly responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining reusable architectural security design patterns that protect Amgen business systems

  • Accountable for leading, supporting, designing, developing, testing, integrating and deploying security technologies and or capabilities including but not limited to Cloud Security Posture Management, Cloud Workload Protection, Web Application Protection, Data Security Posture Management, etc…

  • Responsible for leading the development and publication of Security Configuration Baseline (SCB) standards related to cloud operations

  • Counsel project teams, application owners, and other Information Security teams on information security controls, policies, standards and benchmarks

  • Serves as a functional collaborator with the Enterprise Architecture team to assess system designs and functionality against existing reusable patterns under the provisions of Amgen City Plan program

  • Establish and maintain approved security patterns, methods and reusable elements to expedite solutions attestation and approval throughout SDLC

  • Collaborate multi-functionally with analysts, engineers, data scientists to deliver continuous improvement in cloud security, compliance and resilience.

  • This is a hybrid flexible commuter position into the Tampa, FL office, once or twice per week. Domestic and International travel up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Cyber Security Architecture experience

Or

Master’s degree and 4 year of Cyber Security Architecture experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Cyber Security Architecture experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Cyber Security Architecture experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Cyber Security Architecture experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 years or more experience supporting cloud automation, development, testing and deployment of cloud based (AWS, GCP, and Azure) infrastructure and applications

  • Advanced understanding of Identity and Access Management, Data Security, DevSecOps, Logging, and other security domains for cloud security

  • Working/Emerging knowledge of Enterprise Cloud Solutions across IaaS, PaaS & SaaS. This may include: AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenStack, Mulesoft, Salesforce, Microsoft Office 365, Box, etc.

  • Emerging Knowledge of Identity Governance, Cloud SOC/SIEM, Key Management & Encryption, Public, Private and Hybrid cloud solutions.

  • Good hand-on experience with AWS foundation services related to compute, network, storage, content delivery, administration and security, deployment and management, automation technologies.

  • Technical experience should have Strong micro services programming (AWS Lambda, Docker, etc.)

  • Experience using AWS Cloud Services (EC2, DynamoDB, API Gateway, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Route 53, etc.)

  • Extensive experience architecting, designing and programming applications and RESTFUL Services in an AWS Cloud environment

  • Understanding of ISO 27001/2 Frameworks and NIST/CSA/CIS/COBIT publications.

  • DevSecOps experience building and deploying infrastructure with cloud deployment, build and test automation technologies like ansible, chef, puppet, docker, jenkins, etc.

  • Experience with complex technologies that impact security

  • CISSP or equivalent security-related industry certifications

  • AWS Security Specialty Certification

  • AWS DevOps Engineer Certification

  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification

  • Microsoft Security Operations Analyst Certification

  • Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert

  • Google Cloud Security Engineer Certification

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
