Gulf Marine Repair Corporation Outside Machinist in Tampa, Florida
Must have the following to apply:
- Three years of machining experience (preferred)
- General knowledge about ships and machinery
- Knowledge about gearboxes
- Ability to rig any and all props, shafts, generators, pumps, and engines
- Ability to align pumps to motors
- Ability to remove and reinstall generators
- Ability to take readings on props, shafts, and bearings
- Ability to pass a drug test
- Have basic hand tools
- Shipyard experience is preferred

Drug Testing/Screening.
Job Description:
As an Outside Machinist, be responsible for the assembly, installation, modification, and repair of various surface ship machinery and systems. Set up, service, repair, align, and test machines that operate on a mechanical and electro-mechanical basis. Skilled with precision measuring tools such as dial calipers, micrometers, and stack height gauges, perform all machining tasks with correctness. After evaluating procedures, recommend changes related to the efficiency of setup and production.
Perform major overhauls on and rebuild diesel, gas, and air compressors. Disassemble, reassemble, and test towing winch components, mooring winches, capstans, and anchor windlasses, as well as hydraulic and mechanical cranes. Additionally, remove and reinstall generators. Perform all types of major alignments on components such as gearboxes and engine shafts.

Days and Hours:
This full-time machining position works40+ hours per week. The 1st shift typically runs from7:30 AM to 4:00 PM,and the 2nd shift from4:30 PM to - 1:00 AM. Evenings and weekends are required when needed. Complete work schedule will be discussed with applicant.
