Business Development Representative

The Business Development Representative is a member of the Nielsen Audience Measurement Mid Market Sales Team, dedicated to developing new Advertiser business in the United States. The scope of the business development function ranges from understanding and selling Nielsen’s national and local audience measurement and Scarborough consumer insight services, active prospecting, contract negotiating, addressing in-bound leads regarding data inquiries, understanding consumer viewership and listenership behaviors, In this role, the Business Development Representative will have ownership of a target list and will be responsible for developing new revenue within the assigned territory. The role provides the opportunity to foster new relationships for Nielsen for both local/regional and National Advertiser clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong media background including digital and connected TV and possess a proven track record of building and closing short cycle sales, delivering robust presentations, adapting to the needs of a dynamic, ever-changing environment and client base, and possessing a solutions-oriented sales style.

Responsibilities:

  • Source and secure meeting with new prospects as identified in target territory·

  • Secure expiring business by structuring, negotiating and closing complex contract renewals.

  • Present opportunities to help clients grow our business through consultative selling and solid negotiating skills; grow revenue through sales of incremental products within an established client base.

  • Utilize Salesforce to track entire sales and contract renewal cycle, including forecasting.

  • Articulate an excellent understanding of each product and solution, and how the data can be used to improve agency and advertiser business performance.·

  • Attend client- and industry-specific meetings.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of media experience – working with advertisers at all levels.

  • BA or BS Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising or related field.

  • Understanding of the media and advertising industry.

  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint skills, Google and Salesforce skills.

  • Strong Presentation skills.

  • Experience managing client relationships.

  • Analytic skills.

  • Knowledge of TV, Radio & Digital Industries.

  • Knowledge of Nielsen’s Local and National, Audio and Digital solutions.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Strong Interpersonal skills, highly motivated, strong orientation toward client relationships.

  • Persuasive negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex concepts into concise yet informative messaging for clients.

  • Ability to handle pressure, juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and work well with a diverse customer base and various internal teams.

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $38,000-$155,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs
