KOCH'S TURKEY FARMS Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania

Koch's Turkey Farm ("Koch's"), located in the Lewistown Valley near Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, is seeking full-time maintenance technicians for its second shift operations. Second shift schedule is Tuesday through Saturday.

Koch's is a vertically-integrated, family-owned poultry production and processing facility and is a leader in the All Natural, Antibiotic Free, and Organic Poultry industry. Founded in 1939, Koch's is in its fourth generation of family management and is a sound, rapidly-growing poultry business.

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for supporting the primary processing teams through production operations. They will be responsible for ensuring productivity, GMP's, and food safety. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preventative, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on processing and packaging equipment
  • Maintaining/reporting proper parts inventories
  • Ensures proper shutdown and disassembly of machines
  • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment to support production crews while limiting down time
  • Reading and understanding machine manuals, blueprints, and SOP's
  • Recording and documenting service reports, and related data
  • Promoting Safety, GMP, LOTO, and Ergonomics
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years' experience in the electrical field
  • 2-3 years' experience in the welding field
  • 1-2 years' experience with automated machinery
  • 1-2 years' experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of technical training from an accredited technical school or 1-2 years' related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-2 years' experience in food manufacturing and packaging
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with preferred hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical background (power distribution and/or control voltage)
  • Well-versed in GMP, Poultry, Safety, and Quality
  • A self-starter, motivated, with a high attention to detail and the ability to work independently with effective communication skills
  • Respectful and courteous with a willingness to better self and others
  • Able to work overtime and weekends when required
