Duties and Responsibilities

The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with agency strategies, commitments and goals. This Sr. Project Manager will also provide leadership, coaching and guidance to project teams on the use of project management tools and techniques to ensure that departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices are being followed. This individual maintains excellent communication with management both within and across organizations to ensure smooth running of all projects undertaken by the Strategic Business Operations teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Project budgeting skills.

  • Project management skills including ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex projects.

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.

  • Team-building skills with technical and non-technical staff.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of applications (including Microsoft Project) and/or familiar with project management technology tools (preferably the ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) web tool).

  • Proficiency in project management principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through project closure.

  • Ability to facilitate medium to large groups of people at various organizational levels for the purposes of planning, problem solving, or strategy development.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preference will be given to applicants with the following experience:

    • Progressive project management experience.
  • Working in a Project Management office.

  • Proficiency in project management principles, methods, techniques and tools.

  • Proficiency in the use of project management technology tools such as Microsoft Project.

  • Working in and/or managing Governance processes.

  • Using Microsoft applications/products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and/or SharePoint to produce reports, project documents, and process flow diagrams.

  • PMP certification, as well as, to applicants who have a Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college/university or an Associate’s degree in a computer related field.

    Job Related Requirements

  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position is telework eligible.

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.

    General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.

  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
