Your Specific Responsibilities:

Under the direction and supervision of the Florida Commerce Economic Accountability and Transparency Deputy (EAT) Director, this position is responsible for supporting Commerce’s critical objectives and priority issues by organizing resources, expertise, data, and research to focus on and solve the complex economic challenges facing the state.

This position will perform the following functions:

  • Work collaboratively with the EAT Director to:

  • Coordinate Department audit responses across all programs.

  • Consult with the Executive Leadership Team and Commerce program staff to ensure consistency and standardization related to certain categories of audit responses.

  • Assist the Office of Inspector General in the coordination of projects with state and federal auditors.

  • Work to develop a systematic business approach to all standard audit questions and findings.

  • Develop executive-level briefs and regular audit status reports and communication.

  • Encourage internal collaboration and communication by working proactively and effectively to maintain relationships with Commerce’s Divisions.

  • Track all ongoing audits.

  • Maintain audit history.

  • Work directly with Department staff to ensure effective and efficient audit responses and reporting.

  • Schedule program-level meetings.

  • Track answers and responses.

  • Hold regular meetings with program staff with respect to audit resolution and response.

  • Take steps to ensure prior audit findings on the same topic are accounted for.

  • Develop, in consultation with programs and the Inspector General, standard categories for repeated audit issues and requests.

  • Coordinate any fieldwork that may be necessary with the respective programs.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of statistical and data analytics techniques and methods.

  • Superior editing and written communication skills.

  • Superior verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • High level of proficiency in professional technology solutions (Microsoft Office, data analytic tools, Adobe, SmartSheet).

  • Ability to be a hands-on team player.

  • Ability to be proactive and work efficiently.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and data analysis skills, and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of audit processes, state and federal.

  • Knowledge of project management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to express facts and ideas in a succinct and organized manner and make clear and convincing oral presentations.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others by listening and facilitating an open exchange of response ideas.

  • Ability to work across all of the Department’s programs to facilitate and coordinate audit response and reporting.

    Qualifications:

    As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

    Minimum:

  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

    Preferred :

  • At least 3-5 years of audit experience.

  • Must demonstrate project management abilities.

  • Familiar with Uniform Grant Administrative Guidance CFR 2 CFR 200*, Sections 287, 216, 215.97 F.S., procurement and contracting processes, cost principles. *Codified in other Sections of Federal Code of Federal Regulations like 45 CFR 75, etc.

  • Experience with working with an Auditor General’s office and/or Office of Inspector General or state/federal agency compliance processes.

  • Familiar with Federal and State grants/requirements.

  • Experience with Federal Awards audits.

  • Ability to write and express views clearly.

  • Ability to track using tools like Excel, Smartsheet.

    Pay:

    65,000 to 75,000, based on experience

    The Work You Will Do:

    Position will serve as lead audit response coordinator reporting to the Director of Economic Accountability and Transparency (EAT) and will serve as audit response lead working in consultation and at the direction of the Office of Inspector General (OIG). The position will require that the person has a demonstrated track record of working and facilitating, preparing, coordinating, auding and/or monitoring efforts. This position will require a very out going professional who is comfortable working with multiple sections/programs within the Department as well as external agencies. This would include Federal agencies as well as the Florida Auditor General’s Office. The position will coordinate audit responses to ensure that Commerce responses are consistent as well as sufficient. The work will also require the skill and abilities to work through complex issues, differing views, historical audit findings, as well as with the Commerce team across the board in our program and administrative/finance areas. In addition, we work with multiple systems for grant and case management, accounting, monitoring, reporting, and contracting/procurement. In short, this position will serve as the lead facilitating all Commerce audit responses for the Department. Position will need to be familiar with Microsoft Office products as well as tools comparable to Smartsheet software suite.
