The mission of theOffice of K-12 School Choice (https://www.fldoe.org/schools/school-choice/) is to support quality public and private educational choice programs by providing information and assistance to promote successful outcomes for students, families, institutions, and communities.

Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position for a Site Visit Program Specialist that is responsible for executing the following functions:

  • Performs site visits to eligible Florida private schools participating in the state K-12 scholarship programs

  • Responsible for communication, documentation and reports related to site visits

  • Understands and is able to communicate regarding laws related to private schools, the state scholarship programs and the site visit process

  • Communicates professionally and timely with the public and other office staff

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

    (Note: The omission of specific job duties does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.)

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes and FDOE rules and policies

  • Ability to independently plan, organize and coordinate work assignments

  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices

  • Ability to prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and reports

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of relevant experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preference will be given to applicants who have knowledge of laws, rules, policies and procedures relating to K-12 educational programs.

    Educational Substitutions

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of experience.

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for three years of experience.

      LEAVE INFORMATION :

    • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month.

    • Sick Leave - Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month.
