Your Specific Responsibilities:
This Is a professional position In the HIV/AIDS Section, Communications and Health Equity Unit. This position serves as the Community Mobilization Coordinator and provides liaison, guidance, and assistance to local county health departments and community-based organizations regarding HIV prevention and community engagement. Duties include researching, developing, and evaluating community engagement and mobilization programs, practices, and initiatives. This position is assigned to and stationed at the Department of Health In Tallahassee, and reports to the Community Engagement Team Leader for the Communications and Health Equity Unit.
Lead staff for developing community engagement strategies and programs to mobilize communities around HIV prevention issues. Serves as lead for the Business Responds to AIDS and Faith Responds to AIDS projects. Monitors and evaluates community mobilization and engagement programs, practices, and Initiatives to ensure quality and effectiveness. Collaborates with Community Engagement Team Leader, Statewide Minority AIDS Coordinator, Latino HIV/AIDS Coordinator, and local health departments to assess the Impact of existing community mobilization and engagement Initiatives and the need for new initiatives that address HIV/AIDS among at-risk populations.
Provides technical assistance and capacity building opportunities for local county health department and community-based organizations to enhance their capacity to implement community mobilization programs, practices, and initiatives. Serves as the lead on high-Impact prevention (HIP) community mobilization activities and provides reports on HIP community mobilization activities.
Assists in the development of the annual cooperative agreement application and Interim/annual program reports to CDC; assists in development of Department strategic plans and reports as appropriate; assist In the development of Florida's Jurisdictional Plan; assists in the development. implementation, and review of requests for proposals/invitations to negotiate or other procurement tools; assists in the preparation of other routine and special programmatic reports in conjunction with the HIV/AIDS reporting system.
Assists in organizing meetings and workshops as requested and other HIV/AIDS conferences; Represents the Department at relevant meetings, conferences. and events.
Assists the Community Engagement Team Leader in developing partnerships with key stakeholders, agencies, groups, organizations, faith communities, and businesses to address stigma and the social determinants of health that impact the provision of HIV services.
Assumes the lead role on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
