Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Florida Digital Service was established to propose innovative solutions that securely modernize state government, including technology and information services, to achieve value through digital transformation and interoperability, and to fully support the state’s cloud-first policy. It is also the lead entity responsible for enterprise cybersecurity.
We are seeking a highly analytical and versatile Data Analyst who can also excel in technical writing. In this dual role, you will not only dive into data to generate actionable insights but also document technical processes, create reports, and develop user-friendly documentation for various audiences. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong analytical skills, and can clearly communicate complex information in written form for both technical and non-technical users.
Data Analysis
Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support business objectives and decision-making.
Develop, maintain, and optimize dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate data insights.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and identify key performance metrics.
Use statistical tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Excel) to manage and analyze datasets.
Present findings and actionable insights to stakeholders in clear, concise formats.
Technical Writing
Document data collection processes, data flows, and analysis methodologies for internal and external audiences.
Create user guides, FAQs, and training materials for tools and dashboards developed by the analytics team.
Develop clear, accurate, and accessible documentation on data management practices, governance policies, and technical solutions.
Translate complex data concepts into easily understandable language for non-technical stakeholders.
Update and maintain documentation as tools and processes evolve.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Python, or R).
Experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical information.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Technical Communications, or a related field.
Proven experience (2+ years) as a Data Analyst, Technical Writer, or similar role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with project management and agile methodologies.
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) or documentation tools like Confluence, JIRA, or GitHub.
Knowledge of data governance and compliance best practices.
