Job Overview

The Enterprise cloud architect role is the most senior customer-facing architecture role within North America Cloud Engineering and is critical to the relationship between the customer and Oracle. As a Pre-Sales Enterprise Cloud Architect, you will play a crucial role in our sales process by working closely with the sales team, customers, and technical teams to design and propose cloud-based solutions tailored to our clients' needs. An expert professional in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Architecture, or Cloud Delivery who has a deep understanding of cloud Infrastructure data platform (Compute, Storage, Network, Database, VMs Security) and/or Oracle bare metal, integration, applications, and analytics. Must have deep technical expertise in migration, re-platforming, and rehosting of databases or applications from on-prem to cloud infrastructure. Experience with at least one (1) of these cloud infrastructure providers is required (OCI, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform). Join us!!

The Cloud Data Platform Architect will work closely with Oracle’s most strategic customers in North America. The Resident Architects are assigned to customers to drive cloud usage success through relationships, expertise, and locality. The role involves a combination of architecture level mentor as well as technical advisory covering design, migration, implementation, run and maintain, and general solving. In this role, the Resident Architect will have the following responsibilities assisting the customer:

  • Document customer’s current state technical environment and business objectives.

  • Analyze the business & technical demands. including performance, latency, availability, scalability. placed on their Oracle ecosystem, including Oracle Packaged Applications like Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, Siebel, JD Edwards, Hyperion, Essbase, Oracle Databases, Oracle Middleware, as well as their VMware Estate.

  • Explore alternatives for moving their Oracle ecosystem and VMware estate to OCI.

  • Schedule and facilitate new Oracle technology awareness, OCI enablement, and architecture/ design sessions for the customer.

  • Coach, mentor, and lead customers through their cloud journey to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and their Multi Cloud Architecture.

  • Design and build out the OCI Modern Data Platform, OCI Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), and OCI Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for application development, integrations, and extensions.

  • Build customer facing future state architecture design and alternatives for the OCI services and bill of materials; Assist the Oracle Sales Team in building out proposals.

  • Monitor and forecast the customer’s OCI adoption roadmap and cloud subscription consumption.

  • Prepare weekly and quarterly reports to customer leadership summarizing of your activities and recommendations.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • proven experience with Cloud Data Platforms including large-scale migrations of Applications, Databases to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and/or Integrations and Analytics.

  • Have worked closely with C-Level and VP/Director level management at customers strategically positioning the Oracle driven solutions to run customer business effectively.

  • Provide mentor and advice on architectural design, development, and deployment.

  • Ability to be perform a Technical Advisory role to both customer and consulting implementation partners.

  • Cloud infrastructure certified professional with 5+ years of proven experience with architecting and designing solutions in the cloud with any major cloud provider – Oracle, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Minimum 5 years of designing, building, operationalizing large-scale applications in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Azure, Oracle Cloud (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).

  • Provide recommendations supportive of a shared-service model and long-term organization strategy for enterprise level applications, architecture, upgrades, interfaces, and enhancements.

  • Partner closely with Oracle Sales teams and Enterprise Architects, to enable large-scale customer use cases and drive the adoption of OCI solutions IaaS and PaaS.

  • Have cloud certifications in AWS, Google, Azure, or OCI.

  • Participate in deep architectural discussions with customers to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.

  • Implement Proof-of-Concepts, using the Oracle Cloud Data Platform.

  • Have prior experience with industries such as Government, Energy, Utilities, Manufacturing, Transportation, Financial Services, or High Technology.

  • Good understanding of security areas such as encryption of data at rest, data in-transit, identity, and access management.

  • Effectively communicate the technical/ functional and architecture, expectation on work and architecture risks. Provide inputs on project timelines and estimates where possible.

  • Proficient authoring and presenting program solution documents.

Job Qualifications

  • Have at least 10+ years of technology and industry experience and 5+ years selling technology and cloud-based services.

  • 4+ years of working experience with modern Cloud Platforms - Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, and GCP.

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or in a similar customer-facing roles like pre-sales solution architect role, with a focus on enterprise cloud solutions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about business and technical challenges.

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and technologies (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Have worked with the enterprise customers in a cloud technologist role to successfully built customer-specific cloud vision, architectures, and adoption strategies.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Versed in enterprise architecture and technology and ability to clearly articulate business architecture (vision, capability models, capability assessments) and technical architecture (current and future state capabilities, strategic roadmaps, solution best practices, reference architectures, design patterns).

  • Experience with Oracle technologies like Oracle Database, Exadata, Oracle cloud platform services (Integration, security, analytics) and the enterprise applications like Oracle E-Business, Peoplesoft, JDE, and Non-Oracle applications like SAP and other ERPs are preferred.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., OCI Architect Professional Certification, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.

US: Hiring Range: from $113,000 to $185,200 per annum. May be eligible for equity. Eligible for commission with an estimated pay mix of 70/30.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
