Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Emergency Room Technician in Talihina, Oklahoma
This is a regular, full-time position with a variable schedule that could include nights, weekends, or weekdays | Shift differential available on night and weekend shifts.
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Assists the RN/LPN in the delivery of nursing care of pediatrics and adults. The ER Tech observes through direct personal care and reports any abnormalities to the RN.
Primary Tasks:
Observe the physiological health status of the patient on admission to the ER and performs and assists with on-going observation of the patient’s health status during the hospitalization period.
Report any health deficits, possible complications to the RN (abnormal vs. increased temperature, decreased sensorium changes in intake and output).
Provide direct patient care, provides assistance where needed to enhance the health care team in providing comprehensive coordinated care to patient, family and/or significant other.
Check patients every 30 minutes, recheck visit as needed, offer warm blankets, water and other comfort measures.
Assist the RN/LPN with nursing diagnoses by keeping them informed of observed, symptoms, reactions, changes in conditions of patients and other pertinent observations and information regarding patient’s condition.
Assist with plan of care based on the patient’s problems/needs as identified by the RN on admission.
Assist with reports as instructed by the RN.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
High School Diploma or GED
Current CPR certification
Upholds Nursing Philosophy and objectives, contributes to organizational effectiveness
Demonstrates knowledge of recommended professional growth and development
Knowledgeable of medical terminology
Ability to operate equipment specific to the ER Unit
Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm
CNA certification required for patient care purposes
