Purpose

This position is responsible for designing, engineering, and managing Electric Distribution system service connections, line extension, and infrastructure projects. The position provides designs for capital projects of existing / new Electric Distribution facilities and supports design for new services with customers, either overhead or underground. The position coordinates with internal groups and external agencies as part of providing engineering support for medium and low voltage distribution and service facilities.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the engineering and preparation of electrical construction plans and material list to Calpeco construction standards, CPUC general orders, and local, state and federal code. Reviews designs of other staff and or consultants. Designs upgrades and repairs to distribution system.

  • Effective communication with operations, permitting, procurement, construction, finance, and project management teams for project execution.

  • Perform design and construction site visits. Provide engineering support during bidding and construction to project management team. Confirms and updates as-builts and support GIS.

  • Approves contractor provided submittals, provide recommendations to project team. Coordinate with operations and inspections teams, provide change management support with engineering documentation and approvals during construction.

  • Support process and standards improvement. Follow industry codes, best practices and adopt new engineering and operational improvements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 3-5 years Experience

  • EIT, P.E., PMP, or CAPM preferred

Compensation

Expected Base Salary: $100,000 - 138,000 per year
