Purpose of Role
Ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the financial & Statutory statement's through robust application of financial controllership processes and controls
Oversee the critical activities with focus on financial & Statutory accounting timeliness and quality, controls and compliance in line with internal and external requirements.
Ensure optimal ways of working within the teams and between GBO
Continuously improving the quality and efficiency of financial accounting activity, ensuring that fit-for-purpose standard operating procedures are in place and evolve as business needs change.
Having a thorough understanding of the business strategy, advise on financial implications of business decision, provide the financial reporting perspective and ensure that financial implications are carefully considered.
Accountable for the accuracy and fair representation of the legal entity financial statements (including sign-off of monthly BFC submission, statutory statements) and the underlying processes that supports the generation of the legal entity financial and statutory statements.
Owner of the Balance Sheet and responsible for its accuracy and completeness; leading regular balance sheet and other analytical reviews to identify and resolve complex issues and risks
Responsible for the FAC paper process
Apply existing methodology and knowledge to resolve complex problems,
Understands and effectively challenges the tax agenda, has a good understanding of group structure and the potential impact of business decisions upon the financial statements
Leadership Responsibilities
The Senior Financial Controller is a member of the senior LT with dedicated responsibilities around organizational effectiveness and transformation agenda, capability building and people development.
Regardless of role location, this person is required to lead, coordinate, coach people both in an immediate team, as well as across the related teams in FC&A tower and in-market when it comes to financial accounting matters.
Uses experience and judgement to actively search for risks using internal and external data sources, effectively communicates and gains alignment across a wide range of stakeholders as to the size and magnitude of that risk and mobilises resources to mitigate and course correct.
Interfaces with senior management and external auditors on control issues and practices, takes a lead in ensuring that robust processes are in place to capture, report on and resolve control weaknesses. Generates insights into issues quickly, prioritises effectively and develops solutions that drive the business forward.
