Tacoma Community College Professional Development Coordinator for Faculty in Tacoma, Washington

Priority Consideration Date: July 24th, 2024 Tacoma Community College (TCC) serves the educational, workforce, and cultural needs of our diverse students and communities through the core themes of advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion; cultivating exceptional learning; strengthening community partnerships; and enhancing institutional vitality. We are seeking a Professional Development Coordinator for Faculty (PDCF) who will be responsible for (1) identifying the professional development needs of our campus employees, and (2) developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating formal and informal professional development opportunities offered on campus. As the winner of the regional Charles Kennedy Award for Equity, equity, diversity and inclusion are high priority initiatives for TCC. The PDCF is critical in maintaining and enhancing ongoing learning for staff and faculty, both on and off campus to create organizational accountability and effectiveness, momentum, and advancement towards TCC's equitable and anti-racist goals. This position is housed in the Professional Development (PD) department within the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OEDI) and will collaborate with and report to the Director of Equity Leadership and Development (DELD). OEDI includes the Vice President (VP) for EDI, the Administrative Operations Coordinator, the Associate Director for EDI, the DELD, and the Professional Development Coordinator for Staff. Together, this division leads the integration of EDI principles, values and practices across TCC towards the fulfillment and maintenance of the goals outlined in our strategic plan, and mission, while helping to foster an equitable and inclusive culture of learning and effectiveness.

Essential Functions

Works closely with faculty stakeholders to develop comprehensive Faculty Professional Development (FPD) programs in support of the college's strategic objectives.

Collaborates with the Professional Development Coordinator for Staff (PDCS) to lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of institutional PD days/weeks.

Manages the EDI Fellowship employee development program in partnership with the Associate Director for EDI.

Collaborates with the campus to conduct a variety of assessments to evaluate PD effectiveness, determine future institutional needs, and create opportunities for greater campus engagement.

Compiles, analyzes, and shares relevant PD assessment data with institutional stakeholders and leadership.

Partners with faculty to research, develop, and implement professional learning opportunities, instruments, and models.

Collaborates with stakeholders to integrate key concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusion into campus PD opportunities.

Collects information on various professional development opportunities offered by internal and external groups and promotes them across campus.

Builds and maintains a library of professional resources that address existing and emerging competencies in collaboration with the campus community.

Researches and evaluates trends in higher education professional development activities.
