The Senior Scientist will craft, develop, and deliver impactful data science projects delivering insights and analytics. Working with our commercial partner teams across LATAM, you will use your deep technical expertise and pharmaceutical industry knowledge to advance the application of leading data science analytical methodologies to domain-specific data assets to drive insights and decisions that optimize the patient benefit and commercial value of the pharmaceutical pipeline.
Major responsibilities include evaluating available and potential data sources, driving data strategy to strengthen our analytics, evaluating and developing end-to-end solutions, leading and implementing specific data science projects by applying creative approaches and innovative algorithms within commercial analytics, and advancing data-driven decision-making and data science practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
Act as a hands-on, technical contributor to conceive, design, build, and implement state-of-the-art scientific algorithms
Leads and delivers data science projects by developing and applying creative solutions that go beyond current tools to deliver data-driven insights for high-priority commercial analytic business questions
Designs, develops, and implements end-to-end machine learning workflows (data exploration, sampling, training data generation, feature engineering, model building, and performance evaluation)
Ensures algorithms coding and building within data pipelines that are scalable, repeatable, and secure, and can serve multiple users within the company
Define data and analytics strategies and methods for specific Data Science projects across LATAM
Use AI/ML to transform our commercial strategy operations through impactful analytics projects that improve strategic decisions
Optimally navigate technological, analytical, legal, and privacy complexities to achieve objectives
Participate in project teams and collaborate closely with teams across LATAM on outcomes and insights from specific data science projects
Supply actively to internal J&J Data Science communities of practice, sharing methodologies and improving enterprise Data Science knowledge and capacity
Provide technical mentorship to other team members
Work side-by-side with colleagues to deliver coordinated approaches to deliver on high-value use cases/problems.

Key Requirements (skills, proficiencies, experiences)
Degree in computer science, statistics or a related field.
At least 1 year of meaningful experience in the healthcare or life sciences industry is desired
At least 3 years of relevant hands-on data science experience in industry is required.
Knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modelling methods for supervised and unsupervised learning, including (but not limited to) regression analysis, clustering, outlier detection, decision trees, ensemble methods and boosting neural networks, generative AI is required
Familiarity with large datasets, understanding of data analysis workflows, and/or knowledge of querying languages such as SQL is required.
Proficient with one or more programming languages such as Python and, R is required.
Experience with MLOps frameworks and AWS is required.
Experience delivering on projects using large-scale LLMs is helpful.
Experience with visualisation software/tools such as Power BI, etc. is helpful
Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset
Knowledge of agile methodologies, process models, and process management.
Experience in prioritising and leading a complicated portfolio of projects
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
