Boeing Brazil is seeking Mid-Career Propulsion System Engineer , reporting to the Propulsion Engineering Manager , working out of the São José dos Campos, Brazil office.

The Mid-Career Propulsion System Engineer will join Boeing Commercial Aircraft team who provide support to all Boeing commercial models both in development and in airline service. These models include programs such as the 737MAX, 747-8, 767, 777, 787, the 777-9 family of airplanes, or all-new airplane(s) that our product development organization studies.

The engineers will work on the Propulsion System Design and Certification for Thrust Reverser, Thrust Reverser Actuation System, Engine Controls, Fuels, Fuel Quantity Indication System, Engine Installation and other System Integration activities.

Position Responsibilities:

• Defines requirements for the functions above.

• Defines, coordinates and controls the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.

• Develops specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for the functions above to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

• Configures or designs propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.

• Uses various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.

• Defines and performs certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components. Supports fielded systems to assure continued reliability.

• Develops concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.

• Write FHA, SSA reports, Test Proposals, Test Results, Certifications Plans, and Issue Papers.

• Engineers in this position are expected to work assignments, collaborate with teammates, and receive tasking from lead managers and senior engineers.

• The engineer in this position is also expected to work under general direction.

• Coordinate technical aspects with other senior, experienced and principal engineers within the Propulsion System and with other cross-functional areas.

This position is hybrid/telecommuting. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Must have had a continuous or combined break in employment lasting at least 12 months.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in related Engineering fields.

• Must be legally able to work in Brazil.

• Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA). Applicable to Brazilian, recent engineering graduates within 6 months and foreign engineers when the employer is willing visa sponsor.

• Must have advanced proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in the English language.

• Knowledge or certification through FAA or other regulatory agencies.

• Experience with system design and integration during an airplane development program.

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

• Experience in Fuel System Integration and Certification.

• Experience in Propulsion System Design and Certification.

• Occasional travel may be required in support of the program and customer.

• Experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an engineering environment.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Brazil. Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Brazil. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
