SUNY Upstate Medical University Ultrasound Technologist in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, daily operations of the sonography laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, and the report of equipment failures; Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological diagnostic information and images; Maintains a daily log of patients seen/completes exam tracking and charging; Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by Clinicians; Prepares preliminary reports and contacts the referring physicians when required, according to established procedures; Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided; Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems; Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required; Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member; and performs other related duties as assigned. The Ultrasound Technologist will participate in "On-Call" responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved US Department of Education Ultrasound/Imaging program. RDMS certified in Abdomen and OB/GYN required. Current CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment.
*New graduates who are not currently RDMS certified in OB/GYN & Abdomen will be required to become certified within 1 year of appointment. Candidates with 1 year or more ultrasound sonographer experience will be considered for appointment to a higher level at a commensurate salary.

B.S. preferred.
Work Days:
Multiple opportunities available.
Evening shift, rotating holidays and on-call coverage required. Depending on departmental needs, overtime may be required.
Monday- Friday 3p-1130p or
Tuesday- Saturday 12p - 8:30p.
