Oldcastle Building Envelope, Inc. Senior Estimator in Syracuse, New York

Senior Estimator is responsible for evaluating bid requests including but not limited to specifications, drawings, elevations or takeoffs, ensuring that the required data is obtained to successfully bid and win the project. Senior Estimators must follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide detailed estimates based on construction contract documents, architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation takeoffs lists using software estimating tools and other estimating resources.
  • Achieve acceptable sales and margin levels with customer price negotiations. Monitor actual vs estimated costs working with leadership to adjust standards accordingly.
  • Follow up on estimates and provide feedback concerning market pricing levels
  • Assist project management with project start up as well as pricing assistance throughout the project duration, including change orders and other pricing exercises as required
  • Coordinate glass pricing from various glass plants as required
  • Provide consultation, coordination, and assistance to our customers, sales force and internal personnel
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence and other project specific information
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of this job

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience estimating projects from architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read, interpret, & understand architectural drawings and specifications and provide detailed take offs and estimates that incorporate different building envelope solutions
  • Have experience using computer software estimating programs to prepare estimates
  • Strong geometry & math skills
  • Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload & work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to communicate effectively & conduct themselves professionally excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of fabrication and installation in order to have good understanding of customer needs
  • Strong understanding of glass, composite metal panels, and other infill options as well as their applications.
  • Basic understanding of engineering to be able to use various in-house programs for structural review and the ability to identify and enlist help with problematic conditions
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective customer relationships

The salary range for this position is between $50, 000 to $75, 000.
