SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
Duties include, but are not limited to: Conducting a courteous, professional interview with patient. Gather and accurately enter all demographic and insurance data into EPIC. Obtain required signatures, distribute forms and mandated materials. Correctly identify and attach patient bracelets. Identify a patient's copay and collect copay. Maintain patient confidentiality. Provide information and directions to patients. Maintain knowledge of department policy and procedures and maintain an accuracy rate within established guidelines. Provide flexibility in schedule to accommodate staffing needs of the department. Will participate in cross-training in other admitting areas. Will participate, when work schedule permits, in departmental committees, offering suggestions for innovation in the efficiency of the department. Will need to deliver high levels of customer service, prioritize work and handle stressful situations. Will perform support functions as necessary such as filing, assist supervisor in new employee training, etc. Strong customer service skills required.
Minimum Qualifications:
For consideration for this title, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
One year full-time clerical, secretarial or patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
Work Days:
Schedule is based on a 37.5 hour work week. Must be available to work 5:30am – 10:00pm, rotating through weekends and holidays.
