SUNY Upstate Medical University Clinical Assistant Professor in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
Candidate will engage primarily in clinical and educational activities with an appropriate balance of administration and scholarly/academic activities. Teaching of medical students and residents through an administrative or academic role within the Department of Family Medicine are expected. Appropriate administrative duties will include participation in the decision-making process of the department. Other duties include but are limited to: teaching and liaison activities with other departments when appropriate, professional and personal counseling of medical students, preparation and delivery of appropriate lectures and seminars, and provision of direct patient care through the department's medical service group. Overall supervision is provided by the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, College of Medicine, SUNY Upstate Medical University.
ACTIVITIES: Anticipated clinical 80% including call, clinical care and outside clinical obligations; 20% teaching residents or medical students, and others who are present in our Department with a primary emphasis on the broad spectrum of Family Medicine. Participate in curriculum development and in the evaluation of residents/medical students. Maintain updated lecture series and materials needed to teach resident didactics or medical student clinical skills and/or case studies curriculum. Other duties as directed by the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications:
Family Medicine MD/DO, NYS license, board-certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
2-3 years experience working in an outpatient Family Medicine practice preferred
Work Days:
Generally M-F 8am-5pm some Sat mornings and occasional early morning or early evening meetings
