SUNY Upstate Medical University Administrative Assistant in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Provides administrative and secretarial support for departments, offices or project areas, including facilitation of overall office functions.

Secretarial duties for assigned staff generally include either items of a confidential nature or reports, presentations and correspondence requiring the ability to create/revise complex documents. May also be required to assist with a variety of special projects or studies. Office management duties may include coordination of general office functions such as office workflow, inventory, purchasing, communication, or security. Other duties include scheduling appointments and meetings, answering and screening calls, giving information to callers, greeting visitors, and mail distribution. May supervise some support staff.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and competency in appropriate computer software applications.

Work in diverse environments with people of different backgrounds. Must be a strong communicator and able to develop an effective partnership with providers, staff and all stakeholders, regardless of their cultural, ethnic, and

racial backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree or pertinent college level courses and two years of administrative/office management experience. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
