About the role:

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our thriving Sydney office to lead designs of electrical equipment, systems, and networks for engineering projects in our Water business. You will work under the general direction of Electrical leadership and Design Managers to be responsible for leading projects and mid-large packages of works. This involves undertaking electrical investigative studies, as well as preparation of layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams for projects.

You will also have the opportunity to work as a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to support major utility project delivery of advanced water resource recovery facilities. This includes ensuring that construction delivery quality is aligned with the design intents, and supporting testing, construction monitoring, and commissioning activities.

Further, you will develop strong working relationships with clients by working closely alongside them to deliver valuable business solutions and understand the client’s business.

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for:

  • Performing electrical engineering design which may include engineering drawings, calculations, reports, design criteria, to support electrical engineering projects.

  • Performing calculations to analyse and design electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Assisting in the evaluation and selection of electrical systems and materials and the development of electrical specifications.

  • Contributing to the development of electrical systems, through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.

  • Assisting in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.

  • Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.

  • Preparing electrical engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules.

  • Assisting the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.

  • Recognising when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.

  • Attending project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.

  • Participating in value engineering and basic cost estimating to support engineering projects.

Qualifications

To be successful for this role you'll present:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Electrical Engineering with 10 to 15 years experience.

  • Well-rounded experience in the Water and Wastewater industry. Construction experience ideal.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients.

  • Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes
