The mission of the Cloud Ops Advocacy team is to win the hearts and minds of the IT/Ops community to secure the future of the Microsoft platform. Cloud Ops Advocacy is first and foremost an engineering-focused effort designed to enable IT/Ops leaders and practitioners to build the skills necessary for the cloud, embrace modern patterns & practices for cloud operations, and refocus their organizations on application & service reliability. The Cloud Ops Advocacy team is rooted in engineering, technical credibility, world-class content, and community engagement through online, meetups, user groups, and events.
We are looking for Cloud Ops Advocates who will be based in-region in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, France, Australia and Canada. Cloud Ops Advocates will be instrumental in building a large and vibrant community for Azure. They will build and nurture great relationships with key IT/Ops communities online, create amazing content, and focus on winning the hearts and minds of leaders and practitioners at scale.
Content: Create relevant, reusable, scalable content hosted on docs.microsoft.com, and continually improve this content based on customer feedback.
Online & Social: Focus on breadth engagements via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Stack Overflow, Blogs, etc. Reach the IT/Ops community online using relevant content, social channels, and online forums.
Community: Identify top user group meetups and influencers in each region and build a plan to grow them into strong, positive contributors to the MS ecosystem. Leverage existing programs such as MVP, RD, and MS Student Partners, to scale advocacy efforts and recruit influencers from traditionally non-MS backgrounds.
Conferences and Events: Secure speaking slots and present in relevant 1 st and 3 rd party IT/Ops conferences. Enable local MS field and influencers to champion key Azure services and solutions in relevant local events.
Adoption: Support execution of local activities that drive Azure adoption such as Azure Bootcamps, Hands-on Labs, etc. Use data, experiments, and customer feedback to improve Azure adoption programs.
Product Feedback: Help the product teams drive early adoption of new services. Provide open feedback helping engineering prioritize features, remove technical blockers, and ensure an acceptable quality level.
Best Practices: Drive the creation of best practices in relevant scenarios and document patterns & practices for cloud operations that are useful for the broader IT/Ops community.
5+ years of hands-on experience in the Cloud IT/Operations space. Experience with SRE/DevOps preferred.
Solid communication skills with the ability to be both a strong technical writer and a dynamic public speaker.
Passion for helping IT/Ops communities connect people and communities through the cloud.
A self-starter that can manage and prioritize initiatives to make the IT/Ops community successful on Azure.
Travel is required (25%-50%) and it will depend on where international, national and local events are held.
Previous experience as IT/Ops advocate, IT/Ops evangelist, or customer-facing IT/Ops technical role.
Proven experience working with 3 rd party technical communities, social media, and blogging required.
