Siemens Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation Business is one of the leading global suppliers of products, integrated systems, solutions, and services for the sustainable, reliable, and efficient transmission, distribution, and control of energy.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Business Segment for Protection and Substation Automation Products, MV Components and Channel Partners, to play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth strategy and expanding our market presence.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within an area of the Siemens business that has enormous market potential segment and will be based in Sydney – however interstate travel will be required.

You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and nurturing existing client relationships. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of a dynamic and fast-growing organization.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients, and developing strategic partnerships to expand our market presence across NSW, QLD and NZ.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and lead generation activities.

  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve sales targets and revenue goals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions to enhance their experience.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, and product development to align business strategies and drive growth initiatives.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and growth opportunities.

  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective clients, effectively communicating the value proposition of our products/services.

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes and long-term partnerships.

  • Track and report on sales performance, key metrics, and market insights to inform strategic decision-making and optimize business development efforts.

  • Tendering experience

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will need the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering is highly desirable

  • Proven track record of success in business development, sales, or related roles.

  • Strong understanding of sales principles, market dynamics, and customer relationship management.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on emerging business opportunities.

  • Results-oriented with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Familiarization of Siemens products is highly desirable but not essential, such as SIPORTEC and Reyrolle protection relays, SICAM S8000 RTUs and SICAM Power Quality devices.

  • Experience in power systems protection and substation automation is highly desirable, such as power systems, renewables, power system protection philosophies, IEC 61850, process bus and digital substations.
