AECOM is recruiting an ambitious and motivated BIM Technician to join our CAD and BIM team in Swindon. As a leader in railway design delivering renewals, railway enhancements and new build railway, we work across all design stages from feasibility to detailed design and through our excellent links with chosen contractors and can offer our employees experience across the life-cycle of railway projects.

About our team

We are a dedicated team of professional BIM Technicians and Information Managers, providing comprehensive support to design teams throughout the UK and Ireland. As a BIM Technician, you will collaborate across various design disciplines and teams, contributing to projects with advanced 3D modelling, data attribution, and information presentation.

Role description

With minimal supervision, you will engage in all phases of the rail design process, developing precise and detailed 3D models.

These models will be presented on standard drawing borders and integrated into digital twins. Our clients and construction partners expect continuous improvement in all facets of our work, and you will play a crucial role in supporting these initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Developing detailed 3D models using Bentley software

  • Construction drawing production

  • Quality assurance and compliance

  • Visualisation

  • Collaboration and coordination of project deliverables

Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English, Maths and Science

  • Excellent communication skills and work within teams, references may be required

  • Professional experience in construction or design (2+ years)

  • Experience in CAD delivery software (Bentley MicroStation / AutoDesk AutoCAD)

  • Must be able to visit and travel to sites when required

Preferred but not essential

  • Asset attribution / estimation / quantity surveying

  • Project delivery through Common Data Environments (Bentley ProjectWise)

  • Experience in UK Railway design / construction

  • Certification from recognised providers / accreditation bodies in relevant fields
