- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university AND no less than five year's experience in juvenile probation field required
- Ability to speak in public and perform varied public relations activities
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the Texas Juvenile Justice System
- Pass a criminal history background check prior to employment and for continued employment Pass a sex offender registration / background check prior to employment and for continued employment
- Pass a fingerprint criminal/sex offender history background check for continued employment
- Maintain a working personal vehicle; driving your vehicle is a condition of beginning and continuing employment
- Possess a valid Texas drivers license prior to employment and for continued employment
- Possess and maintain State of TX minimum auto liability insurance prior to employment and for continued employment
- Travel locally and statewide - willing and able to spend the night(s)
- Work a flexible schedule - including some weekends and some nights
- Computer-literate - proficient in windows word processing applications
- Certification as Juvenile Probation Officer of Texas Department of Juvenile Justice or meet certification requirements within six months
